Rolling brownouts planned statewide for 2/2/2011

Please be aware that the cold affecting the state has caused a statewide power emergency. In Austin this means that there will be rolling brownouts. Austin Energy is shutting down small sections of their grid for 10 minutes at a time.
Please remember to save your active documents as much as possible. You could be affected by a brownout at any time.

Remember to replace the batteries in your computer’s battery backup regularly

Please remember to periodically examine and replace the battery from your computer’s battery backup unit. Over time the battery will, in best cases, just lose the ability to power your computer. In worst cases the battery will swell and maybe even explode so be wary.
Cost of a new battery is as little as $30.00 depending on the battery backup you use.
